We're building fully automated labs for protein engineering
At Adaptyv, our high-throughput cloud lab enables protein designers to experimentally validate their proteins with the click of a button. We're building advanced molecular biology workflows, assay automation and software infrastructure to make it easy for our users to engineer better proteins. Since the launch of our beta access in June 2024 we've been growing rapidly and are now working with the fastest-moving protein design teams in the world , across tech bio startups, major AI companies and the biggest pharmas.
We are looking for a talented and experienced scientist to join our Biology Team, specializing in high-throughput DNA synthesis, enzymatic DNA synthesis, and oligo pool assembly. You will play a key role in developing and optimizing molecular biology workflows, integrating them into our highly automated Foundry to accelerate synthetic biology and protein engineering applications.
Responsibilities
Develop and automate high-throughput DNA synthesis and assembly workflows , including enzymatic DNA synthesis, Gibson, Golden Gate, PCR-based methods (e.g., PCA, overlap extension), and oligo pool assembly for large-scale DNA library construction.
Optimize and scale DNA synthesis pipelines using state-of-the-art automation equipment, liquid handlers, and microfluidic platforms.
Design and implement validation assays for DNA constructs, including sequencing-based quality control (NGS: Illumina, Nanopore) and functional expression assays.
Integrate DNA synthesis and assembly workflows into our Foundry , working closely with the Software Team to enable seamless automation, tracking, and data analysis.
Support protein engineering efforts by designing and assembling large variant libraries, optimizing constructs for expression and function in collaboration with our ML Team.
Qualifications
BS, MS, or PhD in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Chemical Biology, or a related field.
At least 2 years of hands-on experience in molecular biology, with a strong focus on DNA synthesis, assembly, and automation.
Experience with liquid handlers, robotic automation, and high-throughput molecular biology workflows.
Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation integration, and experiment design.
Strong understanding of NGS-based validation , enzymatic DNA synthesis, and large-scale DNA processing.
Nice to have: Experience with cell-free protein synthesis, protein-protein interactions, or enzymatic activity assays.
You thrive in a fast-paced startup environment , enjoy problem-solving, and are eager to develop and implement cutting-edge technologies.
Application deadline
We are reviewing applicants on a rolling basis.
Proteins are the most advanced nanotechnology we know of. At Adaptyv, our mission is to make proteins easier to engineer. We are building technologies that allow protein engineers to design and test new proteins in order to develop new medicines, better enzymes for research and industrial applications or functional materials with novel properties.
We believe that designed proteins will be at the core of the bio-revolution and radically change how we manufacture goods, treat aging & diseases and even how we think about applications such as computation and data storage. We want to unlock that potential and help advance humanity to a post-scarcity future.
