About the role

About us: We're Arist. We help companies like HP and ExxonMobil create training with AI and deliver it where their people already are—Slack, Teams, and SMS. We're flipping corporate training on its head, making it something people actually want to engage with.

The Role: We need someone who can be the voice of our customers on our product team. You'll work directly with Maxine, our Co-founder and CPO, to figure out what customers really need and turn those insights into solutions that don't suck. We're looking for someone who gets fired up about making enterprise software that people actually enjoy using.

What you'll do:

  • Be the customer champion in every meeting. Keep a running list of the top 10 things our users are struggling with.
  • Figure out what we should build next. You'll need to balance what customers want with what makes business sense.
  • Work with our engineers and designers to create solutions people love. This means sketching out ideas, getting feedback, and making sure everyone's on the same page.
  • Make sure what we dream up can actually be built. You'll work with engineers to refine requirements and get realistic timelines.
  • Test the hell out of new features before they go live. You'll be responsible for making sure everything works the way users expect.
  • Own product launches from start to finish. This includes getting the team up to speed and walking customers through new features.
  • Set up ways to measure if what we built actually solved the problem.

Our tech stack: Ruby on Rails, Vue.js, AWS

You should have:

  • 2-3 years as a product manager. At least a year of that should be with enterprise software.
  • A good eye for what makes products easy and enjoyable to use.
  • Either knowledge of our product and customers or the ability to get up to speed fast.
  • The ability to stay focused on what matters for the business.
  • A track record of getting things done quickly without sacrificing quality.
  • High standards for your own work.
  • Enough technical knowledge to have productive conversations with engineers.

Why you might like it here:

  • Your work will actually matter. What you do will directly affect how people experience our product.
  • You'll work closely with our founding team, especially our CPO.
  • You'll dive right in. We have a backlog of customer needs and a 2025 roadmap with your name on it.
  • You'll grow with us. We're still small enough that your impact is huge.

Comp & Benefits:

  • $100K-$115K plus equity
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Flexible PTO and fully remote work
  • Budget for learning new things

If you get excited about building products people actually want to use, drop us a line. We're looking forward to meeting you.

About Arist

Backed by Y Combinator, Acadian Ventures, and Soma Capital, Arist is a text message learning platform helping Fortune 500 companies and large organizations — including DuPont, GE, and the State of California — create, deploy, and assess text message courses.

Our long-term vision is to deliver critical knowledge and training to anyone in the world, regardless of traditional learning barriers, one text message at a time.

What's a text message course?

A series of texts, images/GIFs, and interactive exercises/questions delivered over 5 to 30 days via SMS or WhatsApp. Backed by research from Stanford and Harvard, text message courses see ~10x the completion and satisfaction rates of other learning mediums.

In fact, we view text message courses as a brand-new content medium, with a variety of impactful use cases ranging from preventing misinformation to COVID-19 training in refugee camps to DEI training for startups.

Why text messages?

A majority of the world's population — including frontline employees, distributed teams, and remote audiences — has access to SMS and WhatsApp. Meanwhile, internet access is limited globally, making video courses inaccessible to over 3 billion people, including 30 million Americans.

As well, it can also take months to build a traditional workshop or video course, while text message courses can be built and deployed in a day — by one person — ensuring frictionless transfer of knowledge. Writers have to get to the point, so learners get the most valuable insights, concepts, and case studies.

The best part? 95% of people read a text within 3 minutes. As a result, we help create and deliver content employees love in a way that they will actually read and engage with. Don't take our word for it — try a text message course about text message courses here.
