Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced M&E Project Manager with expertise in industrial HVAC systems. This role is responsible for managing and overseeing all mechanical and electrical (M&E) aspects of the project, ensuring that all work is completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with HVAC equipment, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of construction and engineering practices.
Roles and Responsibilities
- On-Site Supervision: Supervise all M&E trades on-site full-time, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and high standards of workmanship.
- Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison between consultants, subcontractors, clients, and the project team to ensure seamless communication and adherence to schedules.
- Project Monitoring: Monitor the progress of M&E work, address any issues, and make adjustments as necessary to ensure timely completion.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality workmanship and that all M&E trades are delivered on time, meeting the project's quality standards.
- Safety Compliance: Oversee compliance with construction site safety and health requirements for all M&E activities.
- Routine Inspections & Reporting: Conduct routine site inspections with client representatives, prepare reports, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Subcontractor Management: Manage and monitor subcontractors' performance, ensuring their work aligns with project goals, quality standards, and timelines.
- Procurement & Material Handling: Oversee the procurement of mechanical and electrical materials, ensuring proper storage, handling, and timely delivery to the site.
- M&E Procedures: Develop and implement M&E work procedures and methods, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Project Management: Manage the entire M&E project lifecycle, from initiation to completion, including resource allocation, budget management, scheduling, and meeting all project goals.
- Client Liaison: Maintain regular communication with clients and consultants, managing their expectations and ensuring that all requirements are fulfilled.
- Workforce Development: Train and manage M&E staff, fostering teamwork and developing skills that align with company goals.
- Cost & Tender Management: Oversee cost value engineering, manage tender processes, and ensure that project costs remain within budget.
- System Handover: Oversee the commissioning of systems, ensuring that all equipment and systems are properly handed over for client use.
- Troubleshooting & Technical Support: Provide on-site technical support, troubleshoot any mechanical or electrical installation issues, and offer solutions to speed up work.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for each project, including progress reports, meeting minutes, and change orders. Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulations.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in M&E project management, particularly in the construction industry (main contractor experience). Experience with industrial HVAC systems is preferred.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team to achieve project goals.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project).
- Skilled in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, installation methods, and local regulatory standards (particularly for Malaysia-based projects).
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot installation and technical issues effectively.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and consultants.
- Documentation: Experience in material selection, procurement, and managing project documentation, including reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Familiarity with Local Market: Knowledge of suppliers and subcontractors in the Malaysian M&E industry is highly desirable.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Willingness to travel as needed and possess own transport.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with local business and government rules and regulations, especially for industrial HVAC projects.
- Experience in industrial new construction, modification / retrofitting projects and strong knowledge of industry standards
