You will report directly to the CEO and collaborate across product, engineering, and clinical stakeholders. Role Requirements
- 2+ years of professional data analysis or data science experience.
- Deep expertise in data modeling, visualization, and statistical analysis. You can balance practical business needs with analytical rigor.
- Deep proficiency in SQL. You enjoy wrangling large datasets, creating dashboards, and automating processes.
- Claude and Cursor experience. 90% of the job is understand what is needed, the other 10% is using AI tools to ship relentlessly fast.
- Experience with healthcare data, insurance data, or risk modeling. Familiarity with claims data, actuarial analysis, or population health metrics is a plus.
- Prior experience at a healthtech like Flatiron, Komodo, or Oscar is a huge plus!
What you’ll work on
- You’ll work on highly sensitive, health claim data. This is data that less than 0.1% of the industry has access to.
- We have clear questions to answer from around 50+ tables.
- Build out advanced dashboards and analytical frameworks that surface actionable insights to product, sales, and executive teams.
- Develop and refine models for utilization, risk stratification, and cost analysis—leading to better incentive alignment across stakeholders.
- Continuously validate findings and iterate on solutions to drive better health outcomes and cost savings.
Technical Requirements
- Python (with strong experience in data manipulation libraries like
pandas
, dask
, or polars
)
- SQL (deep understanding of complex joins, window functions, and performance optimization)
- ETL/ELT Pipelines (experience designing scalable data pipelines for batch and streaming data)
- Cloud Infrastructure (preferably AWS, with expertise in services like S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, or Athena)
- Data Modeling (experience designing schemas for healthcare data structures like claims data, eligibility files, and encounter records)
- APIs and Integrations (familiarity with REST/GraphQL and interfacing with third-party data sources)
Healthcare & Insurance Data Expertise
Since Clearest Health is focused on claims management, plan design analytics, and TPA workflows, deep knowledge of healthcare data models will be key.
- Familiarity with 837/835 EDI claims formats
- Understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems
- Knowledge of payer logic, copay models, and pricing methodologies
- Experience working with HIPAA compliance, PHI security, and data anonymization practices
AI/ML Capabilities
- A solid understanding of ML pipelines, data labeling, and deploying predictive models would be advantageous given your AI claims automation goals.
Familiarity with tools like scikit-learn, XGBoost, or TensorFlow to support building and refining automated decisioning models.
Data Quality and Observability
- Proficient in tools like Great Expectations, dbt, or custom-built frameworks for data quality checks and error handling.
- Experience in building robust logging, alerting, and data lineage tracking solutions to ensure reliable data pipelines.
