Prompt Engineer

Role Introduction

We're seeking a Prompt Engineer to optimize and enhance our AI employee platform's language capabilities. You will be responsible for designing, testing, and refining prompts that enable our AI systems to deliver accurate, useful, and contextually appropriate responses. As a key member of our AI development team, you'll bridge the gap between technical capabilities and real-world user needs. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize prompts that enable our AI platform to effectively understand and respond to a wide range of user requests.
• Create systematic testing protocols to evaluate prompt effectiveness across different use cases and user types.
• Analyze AI system outputs to identify patterns, edge cases, and opportunities for improvement in prompt design.
• Develop strategies to mitigate biases, hallucinations, and other potential limitations in large language model responses.
• Collaborate with product managers to understand user needs and translate them into effective prompt engineering solutions.
• Work closely with data scientists and machine learning engineers to optimize AI model performance through prompt engineering.
• Build and maintain a library of effective prompts, templates, and best practices for various use cases across the platform.
• Stay current on the latest developments in prompt engineering, large language models, and AI capabilities.
• Develop documentation and training materials to help internal teams effectively interact with our AI systems.
• Contribute to the creation of guardrails and safety mechanisms that ensure responsible AI usage.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in natural language processing, computational linguistics, or related fields, with at least 1+ year focused on prompt engineering for large language models.
• Demonstrated ability to design effective prompts that generate consistent, high-quality outputs from AI systems.
• Strong understanding of how large language models work, including their capabilities and limitations.
• Experience with major language models such as GPT-4, Claude, or similar foundation models.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to systematically test and iterate on prompt designs.
• Strong written communication skills with precise and clear writing abilities.
• Basic programming skills (Python preferred) for automation and analysis of prompt testing.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Linguistics, Cognitive Science, or related field; equivalent professional experience accepted.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with enterprise applications of AI and understanding of business use cases.
• Background in user experience design or human-computer interaction.
• Familiarity with techniques like few-shot learning, chain-of-thought prompting, and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Knowledge of evaluation frameworks for measuring AI system performance.
• Experience with deploying or fine-tuning large language models.
• Understanding of ethical considerations in AI and experience implementing responsible AI practices.
• Background in technical writing, content design, or information architecture.
• Experience with AI safety, alignment, or red-teaming exercises.
