Role Overview

As a Founding Backend/Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a foundational role in architecting and building the scalable backend systems and infrastructure that power Edgetrace’s innovative video analytics platform. You will be instrumental in designing efficient, secure, and resilient systems that integrate seamlessly with AI and video processing technologies. This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical infrastructure, shape our technical direction, and scale our systems to meet the needs of our ambitious product roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant backend systems using TypeScript, NestJS, gRPC, microservices, and C++.
• Architect containerized solutions leveraging Docker and Kubernetes to manage and deploy scalable applications.
• Develop and optimize automated configuration management and infrastructure provisioning with Ansible.
• Ensure high system performance, availability, and reliability through robust infrastructure design.
• Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to integrate backend systems with the front end and AI capabilities.
• Lead efforts in networking, security, and scalability for the core video analytics platform.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and optimize performance across the stack.

What We Are Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in backend development and infrastructure engineering, with strong proficiency in technologies like TypeScript, NestJS, gRPC, C++, Docker, Kubernetes, and Ansible.
• Expertise in gRPC, microservices architecture, and designing scalable, distributed systems.
• In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, backend architecture, and modern DevOps practices.
• Proven track record in building and deploying resilient and efficient backend systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to tackle complex technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.
• Passion for building innovative systems and shaping the foundation of a high-impact product.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with video processing technologies and APIs.
• Experience in cloud infrastructure management on platforms like AWS or GCP.
• Understanding of AI and machine learning infrastructure integration.
• Knowledge of database optimization and high-performance storage solutions.
