Design Engineer

We believe great design is critical to how AI bridges the gap between theory and production deployments. As a Design Engineer at Extend, you'll craft the interfaces that make complex document processing feel simple.

We're a lean team, and our customer base is growing too fast for us to keep up. We're looking for talented engineers to join our founding team ahead of our next round and execute on an ambitious roadmap.

Impact

We're creating entirely new interaction patterns for how humans work with AI systems. The interfaces we build directly impact how quickly and confidently customers can deploy AI into production. Here's a few of the complex design challenges we're working on:

• How do we visualize AI decision-making in a way that builds user trust?
• How do we create interfaces that gracefully handle both automation and human-in-the-loop scenarios?
• How do we design feedback loops that help users improve document processing performance over time?
• How do we build interfaces that work for both technical and non-technical users?
• How do we maintain a cohesive experience as we rapidly ship new capabilities (e.g. extraction, classification, splitting, fraud detection)?

Role

• Own the end-to-end design process from conception to implementation, working closely with engineering and product
• Build and maintain our design system, ensuring consistency and quality across all product surfaces
• Implement high-quality interfaces in React, Typescript, and Tailwind
• Have complete ownership over the work you do — as a founding team member, you’ll have the opportunity to truly own large areas of product & engineering.
• Work directly with the CEO, CTO, and other founding members and help build out our team.

Ideal Candidate Credentials

• 5+ years of experience as a product designer, frontend engineer, or similar role combining design and implementation
• Strong portfolio demonstrating experience designing and building complex web applications
• Deep expertise in modern frontend technologies (React, TypeScript, modern CSS)
• Track record of shipping intuitive interfaces for developer tooling products
• Experience designing interfaces for AI products or ML-powered features
