Kino AI is building tools and training models to organize video. We serve top movie and TV studios, and we make editing more productive and enjoyable.
We're a deeply technical team from MIT, SpaceX, AWS and Citadel Securities. We're backed by Y Combinator, AI Grant, and many others.
Kino currently has more demand than it can handle. We need more engineers, deeper integration within current firms, and added capabilities. We're very excited about this next phase!
What you'll do
Our product retrieves video from a search engine and then renders a lot of it. Search results need to feel relevant and the data needs to render quickly.
To contribute to this product, you will:
- Build new features that delight users and make them work faster
- Implement robust Figma designs and craft Kino's visual identity
- Expand our video playback and editing system
- Create high performance and well-tested React components
- Respond to customer support issues and actively work to improve their daily usage of Kino
- Our clients are top brands and media properties, whose footage is deeply important to them. We have very privileged access, and we must use it with care!
Tech
- React (Typescript) with Tailwind, TanStack, and and web-based video technology
- Lightweight state management library
- Traditional db + vector db syncing
- Designs in Figma (we believe traditional design systems slow us down)
About You
- You have strong experience in React and web development, such that typical performance issues rarely appear
- You are fast at implementing designs and maintain quality at top speed. You communicate when things will be done and stick to those deadlines. If there's a slowdown, you'll let us know immediately.
- You are obsessed with performance and craft insofar as it helps the customer
- You have good intuition of what our unique customers actually care about (search quality, video playback, snappiness)
- You are eager to tackle hard engineering problems: massive simultaneous video playback, maintaining customer data privacy, rendering massive lists of data
- You are proactive - you anticipate problems before they arise, you know what questions you’ll be asked and have prepared responses before they’re asked, you predict what the company will need next and proactively outline what it is and the steps for how we’ll get there. You realize we are offering a service, not just a product, and you will work to proactively service our customers at every step.
- Experience in video, graphics, and GPU intensive interfaces is a massive plus
Logistics
- This is a full-time, in-person opportunity in San Francisco. We're big believers in in-person culture!
- We are open to sponsoring International candidates (e.g STEM OPT, OPT, H1B, O1, E3)
- $135,000 - $200,000 a year
- 0.75%-2% equity
- Support for those moving to the Bay Area
