About the role ✨

As the Founding Machine Learning Engineer at Nuanced, you will be pivotal in driving our mission forward. You’ll balance research with real-world application, taking on the challenge of building robust machine learning models that detect AI-generated content with precision.

This is more than an R&D role—you’ll be developing models that ship to production, working closely with the team to integrate your solutions and iterate quickly based on feedback. You'll have the freedom to push the boundaries of AI research while delivering impactful, customer-focused results.

What you’ll be working on 💻

• Conduct novel research in AI-generated image detection, staying ahead of the latest advancements in the field.
• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models to detect AI-generated and manipulated images at scale.
• Implement scalable algorithms for real-time inference in production systems.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teammates to integrate your models into our product.
• Rapidly prototype and iterate on solutions based on performance metrics and customer feedback.
• Shape the strategic direction of our AI architecture and detection capabilities.

What we’re looking for ✅

• Education: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Experience: Proven track record in machine learning model development, with a focus on computer vision and image processing.
• Research & development: Strong interest in applied ML research, with the ability to bridge theory and practice—publications in top-tier conferences are a plus but not required.
• Technical skills: Proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.
• Problem solver: Eagerness to tackle complex, previously unsolved challenges, and explore new approaches.
• Fast execution: Ability to move quickly, iterate often, and deliver high-impact results in a fast-paced startup environment.
