Senior UI Engineer
About the role
The role
We’re looking for a Senior UI Engineer to lead the design and development of QuestDB’s Web Console. You’ll be responsible for creating an intuitive, high-performance interface that simplifies complex database workflows. This role blends frontend engineering with AI integration, offering the chance to shape the future of how users interact with time-series data. You’ll collaborate closely with core engineers, bringing innovative ideas to life in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
Requirements
- Strong Sense of Ownership: Self-organized, independent thinker who takes initiative and leads projects.
- Problem-solving skills: Ability to tackle complex challenges and assist others in finding solutions.
- Excellent Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Expertise in React & TypeScript: Deep knowledge of React (Hooks, Context API) and performance optimisation techniques.
- Strong UI/UX Design Sense: Ability to create intuitive, elegant user interfaces without a dedicated designer.
- Algorithmic Thinking: Proven ability to write efficient algorithms for query suggestions and state management.
- Database Understanding: Solid grasp of SQL databases and how UI/UX affects data interaction.
- Frontend Performance Optimization: Experience with virtualised rendering, memoisation, and efficient state management (Redux, Zustand, etc.).
- Automated Testing: Proficiency with Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Familiarity with embedding AI models (e.g., NLP, auto-completion) into complex web applications.
- Experience designing interfaces for AI-powered tools.
- Familiarity with data visualization libraries like D3.js, Plotly, or ECharts.
