Autonomous Sheet Metal Factories
TL;DR: You will design and build custom robotic systems for automating sheet metal fabrication.
We're hiring a founding automation engineer to build custom robotic systems for automating sheet metal production. It'll be your job to build custom systems faster and cheaper than we can buy off the shelf.
You'll be building from ground-zero and have a huge impact on the direction of our automation.
One of our first projects is building automated sheet metal storage and retrieval systems. Off the shelf solutions cost >$300k and have lead times in many months. We need to build something similar for an order of magnitude less.
In this role, you'll be responsible for:
Required skills:
The high order bit in the screening process is for us to see if you are clearly capable of building complex hardware systems fast.
Huge bonus points in screening if you can easily point to evidence that you do this. (i.e. Youtube build videos, blog posts, images of things you’ve built, etc).
Interview process will likely look like:
- 30 minute video call
- On-site interview
- Paid contract project so we can see how we work together
- Offer
RMFG is building autonomous sheet metal factories. The US sheet metal industry is large ($200b/yr) and highly fragmented. It's reliant on huge amounts of manual labor. We're a technology-first factory with instant quoting, high visibility, and robotic automation — starting with laser cut and bent sheet metal parts.
The opportunity here is to build the largest sheet metal manufacturing company and operate it with software-like margins. To build a new core utility for manufacturing that the majority of people building hardware will depend on.
