About the role

We’re looking for a Tech Lead to help scale our engineering team. You will work closely with the founding team to shape the technical direction of Sendblue, drive feature development, and build a world-class engineering culture.

We ship fast, and we are looking for the next team member who can help us maintain our shipping velocity while building for scale.

Outcomes

  • Be a strong individual contributor, delivering high-quality production code in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Architect and scale backend systems to support high-throughput messaging while ensuring reliability and security.
  • Lead the development of new features that customers repeatedly ask for, improving their workflow and business efficiency.
  • Work closely with product, support, and engineering teams to solve customer pain points quickly.
  • Provide technical mentorship and help engineers grow by fostering a culture of high-velocity execution and accountability.
  • Improve system monitoring, alerting, and observability to minimize downtime and performance bottlenecks.
  • Help organize the team: planning sprints, delegating tasks, and improving team velocity as we scale.

Competencies

  • Experience building and scaling high-performance backend systems with high availability.
  • Deep understanding of infrastructure, databases, and backend patterns (e.g., WebSockets, real-time messaging, event-driven architecture).
  • Strong technical, architectural (system design), and troubleshooting skills.
  • Mastery of using AI to assist in rapid code and feature developpment.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills—able to motivate and organize a fast-moving team.
  • Bias for action—obsessed with shipping fast without sacrificing stability.
  • Prior experience as a Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, or similar leadership role.
  • Proficiency with Next.js, Vercel, TypeScript.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with real-time messaging, and startup codebases.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems like GoHighLevel, Close.io, or HubSpot.
  • Previous experience in a high-growth startup
  • Strong frontend engineering skills (React, TailwindCSS, shadcn/ui).
