As an Electrical Engineer at Spaceium, you'll spearhead innovation by designing advanced avionics systems, PCBs, actuators, sensors, and data acquisition systems for our spacecraft. Your role will encompass avionics design, system integration, PCB development, component selection, and rigorous testing. You’ll collaborate across teams and be required to have deep expertise in power subsystems, high-speed board design, and aerospace industry standards, including designing for space environments.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop avionic subsystems, including board design, actuators, sensors, and data acquisition systems.
- Create schematic layouts, select components, and implement high-speed PCB design techniques for spacecraft electronics.
- Design and layout printed circuit boards (PCBs) for optimal performance, handling complex designs with numerous components.
- Design power subsystems, including power conversion, DC/DC, and battery systems.
- Conduct testing and analysis of electronic systems to ensure reliability and functionality.
- Understand and implement avionic subsystem connectivity protocols such as RS422, I2C, Ethernet, and CAN.
- Adhere to industry-standard aerospace protocols and implement design methodologies for space applications.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in avionics design or a similar role.
- 1+ years of experience using software tools such as Matlab, C++ or Python
- **We’re working on stuff that’s never been done before, so experience isn’t a big deal. It’s nice if you have it, but it’s not a must. If you’re excited to learn, ready to put in the work, and want to shake things up in the space industry, go ahead and apply! Whether you’re fresh out of school or have years under your belt, we’d love to hear from you. **
Preferred skills and experience:
- Passion for spaceflight and high-reliability electronic systems with familiarity in aerospace design practices.
- Self-starter with experience delivering hardware under demanding time and resource constraints.
- Creative problem solver with strong first-principle fundamentals, capable of assessing risk and making design decisions with limited data.
- Experience in a nimble, technical engineering role, with a scrappy, entrepreneurial approach to meeting tight time or budget constraints.
- Proficiency in schematic layout, PCB design tools, and knowledge of power subsystems, including power conversion and battery systems.
- Strong understanding of avionic subsystems, sensor technologies, actuator control, and data acquisition, including communication protocols and interfaces.
- Collaborative team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail-oriented and focused on quality and accuracy.
Additional Requirements:
- Extended hours and weekend work may be required to support critical project and mission milestones.
- Travel to Spaceium facility may be intermittently required
Compensation:
- Pay range: $90k-$110k USD per year
- Equity range: 0.1% - 0.5%
