About the role

Srcbook’s mission is nothing short of building the next framework for making websites. We have a lot of advanced and challenging product challenges to solve, since we’re reinventing how humans and AI can work together to productively and intuitively build websites incredibly fast. What does the future of building for the web looklook like? Come and help us define and build it!

We have worked with great product designers in our careers so we deeply understand and respect the importance of this role. This is why we’re hiring a product designer so early, and we will give you an immense amount of ownership and impact on the product when you join. If you want to build a frontier product with an S tier engineering team supporting your ideas, this is the role for you!

Why join

As a small team, we work in a highly collaborative environment and you'll have the opportunity to participate in every part of the business from idea to production.

Impact: Build the foundation and shape of our core app and experience.

Excellence: Practice your craft with other very senior ICs in a well-organized, fast-paced environment.

Ownership: The team is small and very senior. You’ll work directly with the founders, influence the direction of product and strategy — we care about your opinions.

What You'll Own

  • Evolving the core experience of building apps with AI (currently it’s very chat based, and we think this is a weak baseline with tons of potential if we explore around it).
  • Talking with users and understanding how to prioritize their needs.
  • Help us shape our long term vision of personal software and bring it to life.

Near-term Priorities

  • Advanced AI interaction patterns (contextual element manipulation, like clicking on elements in the UI to contextually tell the AI to modify them, or modify them directly with direct interaction patterns like Figma).
  • Rebrand (our current design was initially designed for developers as an ICP, we want our brand to be more intuitive, approachable and fun).
  • Some well scoped user features:
    • Upload and manage their own assets
    • Manage their deployed applications
    • Support databases: we want to make storing data as easy and intuitive as a notion table or spreadsheet.
    • Select-to-edit: a new contextual way of editing the website

Who You Are

Must-haves:

  • 4+ years of product design experience.
  • Obsessed with understanding users and extracting what they want.
  • Detail oriented when necessary, but also understand how to be fast.
  • Track record of shipping polished, user-focused products.
  • Passionate about AI’s potential. You are already using AI tools to code and believe it can supercharge our domain.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Complex tool design background. If you’ve worked on making a technical tool more approachable to users, this is going to be a great fit!

You should be:

  • Curious and driven, never afraid of hard problems
  • A good communicator, this accelerates collaboration and also improves user empathy and understanding
  • Obsessed with shipping and delighting users, you understand that velocity is key to winning in startups
  • A startup person: Ready for startup intensity with massive ownership, high impact and tons of financial upside when we win, but understand that the journey can be intense

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity — multiple options based on your desire for ownership:
    • $150k - 200k
    • 1.25% - 2%
  • Hardware setup — new MacBook Pro, big display, and accessories
  • Unlimited vacation (with startup work-life balance)
  • Hybrid flexible schedule 3 days onsite in our beautiful office in SF
  • Opportunity to work on something really big!

Interview Process

  • Background and intro: You’ll chat with our CEO about your background and talk about what you’re looking for in your next role.
  • Product design exercise: we’ll give you a product design exercise and pair on it together for 1h
  • Behavioral and cultural fit: You’ll chat with our CTO about your work style to try to determine if it’s a good mutual fit.
  • We like to work together on a real feature, so we’ll offer a paid trial with flexible times available to you based on your availability.

About Srcbook

Join us at Srcbook

We are building the future of TypeScript devtooling. We believe that more teams than ever are building in TypeScript, but there isn't a good prototyping environment which allows to explore libraries, try out ideas, and deploy simple apps incredibly fast.

So we're building it. It starts with an open-source notebook: https://srcbook.com, but the long term vision is to give the ability to TypeScript devs to ship mini-apps incredibly fast, by focusing on the backend code.

We also believe that AI should be heavily leveraged, so our app uses it as a copilot. Because a notebook is different than an IDE, we can do lots of very interesting UX tricks to make iterating and generating with AI very easy.

We're looking for devs who are curious, driven and autonomous. You are a good fit if you're passionate about TS, devtools, and the UX of coding.
