Data Scientist (AI)

TLDR

Tabular is building the AI Copilot for accounting. We’ve raised a $4.7m Seed by investors like Y Combinator and LocalGlobe. We are looking for a Data Scientist to to help us crack some of our toughest AI challenges.

What we care about

• building a small, highly technical team. You will work closely with:
  • Leo, technical cofounder, prev. founded Hive and scaled it to 8-figure ARR as CTO, ML research at ETH
  • Markus, technical cofounder, Cambridge Valedictorian, prev. launched financial services at Trade Republic
  • Agustin, founding engineer, 10y full-stack experience, prev. Staff Engineer at the Unicorn TaxFix
• failing and learning fast, high autonomy but all the sparring you need, no hierarchies, a supportive and driven team
• pushing the frontier of what’s technically possible, building the most powerful accounting automation to date

What you’ll be working on

You will work closely with the founding team on our most complex data science projects:

• fine-tuning open-source LLMs for accounting
• developing confidence scoring for LLM outputs
• customising multimodal models for data extraction
• remain up-to-date on frontier AI methods - run new experiments daily

What we are looking for

• intelligence and drive > years of work experience
• degree in computer science or a related field
• track record building with open source LLMs and more ‘traditional’ ML techniques
• you can talk about side projects you did

• we’re open to freelance, part-time, or fixed roles based on fit and discussion
• join Tabular as first data hire and second overall hire and be incentivised as such
• we have a lovely office in Berlin Mitte and would prefer to work in-person, but are open to remote. You’ll also get a great technical set-up.
• you’ll be part of a small team of highly motivated, independent, and intelligent people. We plan on staying small and hire only technical talent in the foreseeable future.
