About the Platform

Position Overview

We seek a Lead Software Engineer to spearhead the engineering implementation of AI-powered features within our ERP applications. This is primarily a hands-on technical role that requires exceptional coding abilities across the entire stack and leadership skills to guide a team. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on engineer who directly builds and implements AI solutions that enhance end-user business process automation and decision-making capabilities. We need someone hands-on with end-to-end development expertise across AI, backend, and frontend systems to ensure seamless integration of intelligent features throughout the entire application stack.

Primary Responsibilities

Hands-On Coding

Actively write production-grade code daily across all system layers
Personally implement LLM and ML integrations into production systems
Build and optimize time-series ML models for business forecasting
Develop backend services and APIs that support AI functionality
Create responsive frontend components that leverage AI capabilities
Implement full-stack features from the data layer to the user interface
Develop proof-of-concepts and prototypes for new AI capabilities
Implement data pipelines for training and inference within our ERP applications
Design and develop sophisticated prompting systems for LLM-based features

Technical Leadership

Lead a cross-functional team of frontend and backend engineers while maintaining an active coding role.
Architect and design scalable solutions integrating LLMs and ML models into ERP applications
Establish technical standards and best practices for AI feature implementation.
Mentor team members through pair programming and code reviews
Make critical technical decisions while balancing innovation with practical delivery

Implementation Focus

Design and implement features that leverage LLM & ML APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, HuggingFace, etc.)
Develop and deploy time-series ML models for business forecasting, trend analysis, and anomaly detection
Build scalable solutions for intelligent data processing and analysis
Integrate AI capabilities within the Tailor Platform ecosystem
Create and optimize the performance of AI features within our ERP application stack

Project Execution

Drive technical decision-making for AI feature implementation
Collaborate with product management to define technical requirements and implementation strategies
Manage project timelines and resource allocation
Balance technical debt with feature delivery
Participate in sprint planning and estimation

Required Experience & Skills

Work Requirements

Ability to overlap at least 4 hours with Japan timezone (JST/UTC+9)
Excellent communication skills across distributed teams

Must-Have

5+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a technical leadership role
Strong hands-on coding skills with daily programming experience
Proven ability to personally write production-quality code in TypeScript, Python, Go, or similar languages
End-to-end development experience across AI, backend, and frontend systems
Experience building and integrating user-facing AI features
Track record of personally implementing LLM-based features in production applications
Experience developing and deploying time-series ML models in production environments
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams while remaining an active daily coder
Eagerness to learn about and work with the Tailor Platform ecosystem

Technical Requirements

Production experience with AI service integrations (OpenAI API, Claude API, etc.)
Experience with time-series forecasting models and techniques
Strong understanding of GraphQL and RESTful APIs
Proficiency in frontend technologies, including React and modern JavaScript frameworks
Experience with backend development in Go, Python, or similar languages.
Experience with cloud services (GCP, AWS, Azure, etc.)
Proficiency in version control systems and CI/CD pipelines
