About the role

The Way We Navigate Today Is Broken

Remember getting lost while trying to find a friend's apartment? Couriers face this maze every day: zero parking, hidden entrances, and confusing building complexes. It's a tremendous challenge for last mile delivery that's gone unaddressed—until now.

truemetrics solves this problem: We offer exact locations for entrances and parking positions to speed up deliveries by analyzing sensor data from drivers' smartphones.

We are backed by Y-Combinator, Rebel Fund, Soma Capital, and other big names in Silicon Valley, and now we are looking for you to join our team.

Are you seeking an opportunity to gain experience in an early-stage startup? Do you wish to work with a friendly and open-minded team that values collaboration over hierarchy? If so, we would love to hear from you!

What You Are Getting Into

We are looking for a Software Engineer with strong Python skills.

At truemetrics, your tasks will include developing, improving, deploying and maintaining algorithms and data processing pipelines for sensor and geo data

As one of our first engineers, you get to be part of the rocket ship journey of a silicon valley funded tech startup. You will support us in scaling the team and there is a wealth of opportunities for you to grow with the company.

Requirements

  • You are living in Berlin or willing to move to Berlin within 4 weeks of starting with us.
  • You have your first professional experience as a software engineer (2-8 years of experience)
  • You are an excellent Python developer with a focus on data processing and data science and have a track record of developing algorithms for sensor or geo data.
  • You have experience in deploying to cloud infrastructure (e.g AWS Lambda, S3, Athena, etc.).
  • You can handle the dynamic environment of development in a startup: Ability to quickly write and deploy code at production quality without overengineering.

You bring expert knowledge in at least one of these fields

Prove in your application, in which field you are an expert!

  • You are an expert on geospatial data, you know how to process, store and visualize geodata. You know how to use geocoders, OSM and other sources.
  • You are an AWS expert, you know everything about how to build scalable solutions in the AWS cloud.

Bonus

  • Do you have an impressive GitHub repo to prove your skills? Great!
  • You have experience in working with (time-series) ML models (data processing, training, tuning, etc.)
  • You are experienced in data science. You have strong scientific background and you know on how to look at data.

What We Offer

  • Joining early as a key member of our development team with the opportunity of growing into a leading position.
  • Learn more and faster than ever before.
  • Prioritize, justify, and manage your daily tasks - no micromanagement.
  • Working fully onsite with us in our office in Kreuzberg (Berlin).
  • Competitive salary + equity in a fast-growing company

About truemetrics

The Way We Navigate Today Is Broken

I bet you know the following: "You Have Arrived At Your Destination!" — or so Google Maps thinks. In reality, the way couriers navigate is broken: No parking, hard-to-find entrances, and labyrinth-like apartment and office complexes can turn the last meters of delivery into a time-consuming puzzle. truemetrics provides parking positions and entrance locations to enable faster drop-offs.

Our data is generated by analyzing sensor data from drivers' smartphones, allowing truemetrics to identify precise parking and entrance locations, thereby simplifying the last meters of delivery.

truemetrics was founded in 2021 by Ingo Bögemann, Jan Bischof, and David Wulff, and is currently backed by Y-Combinator and notable business angels from the industry.

During his management of Wolt's operations in three of Germany's four regions, David often faced challenges with inefficiencies in the last 50 meters of delivery. Together, they started truemetrics to overcome these challenges. Ingo contributes 10 years of engineering and entrepreneurial experience, along with a successful exit. Jan Bischof holds a PhD in Control Theory and has developed software and AI solutions for nearly a decade.
