Turion Space Corp. (TURION) is seeking an FPGA Engineer to join our team in Irvine, CA. You will be involved in developing, testing, and deploying FPGA hardware in a space environment. You will collaborate closely with hardware designers, software engineers, and other team members to integrate FPGA designs into larger systems and contribute to the overall technical strategy of our satellite programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver highly reliable FPGA designs for internally designed hardware
- Work with engineers across the department to develop new products, from prototype through production and flight
- Take ownership of your FPGA designs, including verification testing and writing documentation
- Design mission critical FPGAs for spaceflight applications. Participate in on-orbit testing of your designs.
- Work in close collaboration with avionics, software, and platform engineers to design and validate FPGA designs
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or other STEM discipline
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in FPGA development.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex technical challenges and develop effective solutions.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in designing, testing, and documenting payload systems.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret and/or a TS/SCI clearance.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with complex digital designs
- Experience in all stages of FPGA development: RTL design, verification, synthesis, timing analysis, lab bring up/validation
- Experience integrating logic onto SoC platforms and designing high-throughput PS/PL interfaces
- Experience developing firmware for Xilinx FPGA platforms using the Xilinx toolchain
- Experience with high speed serdes links, including GbE, PCI-E or similar
- Experience with high-speed LVDS interfacing
- Experience with image sensor interfacing and image processing
- Experience with networking protocols and packet processing (Ethernet 802.3, IPV4/IPV4, UDP, TCP)
- Experience developing and testing high reliability, safety critical, and fault tolerant systems
- Hardware debug experience, including familiarity with tools such as the oscilloscope, logic analyzer, protocol analyzer (SPI, CAN, Ethernet or similar)
- Experience developing software for embedded systems in C or C++, or significant experience in another software language
- Scripting skills (bash, Perl, Python)
- Familiar with common electronic components and comfortable reading circuit design schematics and contributing to hardware design discussions
- Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed to meet critical deadlines
