Head of Engineering

What we do: At Vahan, we’re helping 300M+ blue-collar workers in India find jobs using digital and AI driven solutions with a human touch. Over time, we want to become the center of all things work and financial needs for blue-collar workers, and will thus expand to use cases in financial services and upskilling.

We’re a Y Combinator company that is backed by marquee investors such as Khosla Ventures, Founders Fund and Airtel.

What we’re looking for:

Must Haves:

1. Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leading engineering teams in a high-growth startup environment.
2. Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of the company's tech stack and ability to make high-level architectural decisions.
3. Business and Product Oriented Mindset: Strong ability to build user empathy and come up with product solutions for user problems, as well as the ability to align engineering efforts with business goals.
4. Problem Solving Skills: Exceptional ability to diagnose issues quickly and provide effective solutions.

Should Haves:

1. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with product, marketing, and sales teams to drive company objectives.
2. Hiring and Mentorship: Proven ability to attract, hire, and mentor top engineering talent.
3. Startup Experience: Prior experience working in a Series B or later-stage startup.

Nice to Haves:

1. AI Expertise: Specific knowledge or experience in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
2. Budget Management: Experience in managing engineering budgets and making cost-effective decisions.
3. DevOps Knowledge: Familiarity with DevOps practices and the ability to oversee continuous integration and deployment processes.
