Hey everyone!
TL;DR: Ultra helps ambitious students achieve anything; we’re launching our college admissions advisor, which focuses on helping students become extraordinary, which is more important than the application itself.
Ask: We’d love to meet with two main categories: employers and educators (college counselors, principals, and school district leaders). We’ve already matched some very hungry and capable top 1% high school students to VC firms and YC startups as interns; we’d love to partner with more companies who are interested in building a talent pipeline here or otherwise interested in working with high schoolers. Ambitious students are underserved. A hungry high schooler is capable of so much more than APs and creating fake non-profits to get into a college.
But the guidance is often nothing or directly negative. Schools and counseling departments are already overwhelmed, so they have to focus their advice on the low-performing students. What is possible for a high schooler has also changed so much that a lot of previously sound advice has aged out.
College remains the primary goal for ambitious high schoolers. And the best way to get in is to be shockingly impressive, which also helps later in life, too. But access to guidance on how to make yourself stand out to colleges is expensive (private college consultants) or not well packaged.
