Audm is a subscription service providing mini-audiobooks —…
Audm is a NYC-based startup on a mission to fuse together the futures of journalism and digital audio. We believe that good journalism is one of our society's noblest forms of expression, and that digital audio is one of the most revolutionary distribution channels in history. And we believe that masses of people, hundreds of millions of people, absolutely are willing to pay for podcast-style audio content — if it's good enough! For that, we turn to the organizations that produce the world's best feature journalism: our partners at The New Yorker, The Atlantic, WIRED, Vanity Fair, POLITICO, and dozens of other top-tier publications.
The Audm project is vital to the future of both journalism in general and digital audio specifically. If these industries are going to escape the tractor beam we call ad-based monetization, someone's got to figure out how to get masses of people to pay for good journalism out of their own pockets, rather than expecting advertisers to foot the bill. This is exactly what Audm is doing.
Oh, by the way, we're backed by a slate of amazing investors (including YC, obviously), and we're growing fast.
