About Phonely

There are billions of calls made every day which will soon be handled by AI. Today, 70% of business customer support calls are outsourced to call centers and contact centers. These call centers are looking for a solution that they can build, simulate, and deploy voice agents all in one platform. We are building this.

To get voice AI agents that can truly match human-level performance, we need 99.9% reliability. We’ve achieved this by building fine-tuned LLMs, running simulation testing, implementing LLM monitoring and automation, and creating a Zapier-like platform to tie it all together.

We’re growing fast—our company grew 22% week over week in YC, finishing in the top 5% of companies by revenue in the batch, and we’ve successfully closed our seed round. We are looking for a founding engineer in San Francisco (or willing to relocate) to join the rocket ship.


About the Role

We are a fast-growing voice AI company, and we’re looking for a founding engineer with DevOps experience to help us move fast, iterate quickly, and scale effectively. If you love building from scratch and thrive in high-growth environments, this role is for you.


What You Will Do

Deploy and Manage Production Voice AI Agents

  • Design, build, and deploy voice AI agents to the cloud with fast iteration cycles to meet real-time needs.

LLM Monitoring and Optimization

  • Ship pre-defined monitoring goals within the first 14 days.
  • Develop independent monitoring solutions within the first 30 days (e.g., enhance call monitoring for real-time latency alerts and other key metrics).

Optimize and Automate Infrastructure

  • Automate infrastructure to ensure scalable and reliable deployments, integrating with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Continuously improve our platform’s resilience, implementing solutions like multi-cluster rollovers and auto-scaling for performance spikes.

Competencies

  • Experience with Kubernetes, GCP, or other distributed systems tools.
  • Hands-on experience working with LLMs (bonus points if you’ve worked with voice AI solutions).
  • Clear Communication: You know how to express complex ideas succinctly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Startup-Ready: You're comfortable working in uncertain, fast-changing environments and understand what it takes to thrive at an early-stage company.

Qualifications

  • Background in ex-founder/ CTO, Infrastructure, or DevOps Engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience at a company with fewer than 100 employees.
  • 5+ years of total engineering experience.
  • 2+ years focused on infrastructure or DevOps.
