tl;dr We are using LLMs to speed up the equity research process by taking the pain out of working with financial filings.
Problem 1: Pulling tables from SEC filings
The de-facto current solution is a tool called BamSEC. However, there are a couple of problems with it: a) They don’t provide citation links to their numbers, and b) To merge data from previous filings, you can only do it one table at a time.
Quill solves both these problems. Take a look:
Problem 2: PDFs → Excel is painful
This flow normally involves a lot of number-by-number copy-pasting. Quill lets you skip that and turn any PDF into a spreadsheet (extracting all reported numbers and tables) – with citation links for each number.
Problem 3: Earnings season is extremely hectic
Every quarter, companies report earnings and investors have to quickly digest the performance, guidance, and Q&A sections of the earnings calls for each of their 20-40 portfolio companies before forming an investment opinion.
Quill lets you digest these sections in an instant. Instead of reading through the raw calls, you get a dashboard that explains the main reported performance and guidance metrics, the key points in management’s commentary, and the key concerns of Wall Street analysts.
Faster workflows mean you can cover more companies per quarter.
We’ve been working hard on these features and would love to get the word out! If you know people who work in:
We’d love to talk to them!
