Formula Insight: Search & analyze complex spreadsheets using plain English

tl;dr

Excel data is essential to any hedge fund's investment process. However, it’s inefficient to extract and compare details between various complex models.

The Problem

The current method of Excel record keeping precludes key details and is not intuitive to search and extract. Hedge funds are only able to keep track of a few metrics manually.

The Solution

So we're building an application that can label and store every single cell in a central repository. Modeling variables can be easily extracted and compared using natural language. Eventually, this builds into a knowledge database for the next generation.

Our backstory

At Citadel, Will worked with 50-70 different financial models, each with 10-15 thousand cells. These Excel models became difficult to manage and counterproductive.

At SpaceX, Stefan wasted hours reviewing other people's spreadsheets with missing labels when designing rocket engines.

We think these work processes should be seamless.
