the problem
The bottleneck in development keeps moving. It used to be writing the code. Then agents solved that, and it became reviewing the code. Now what's left is planning the next step, and every IDE still waits.

Ara closes the loop. It proactively plans your next step, handing you proposals you can discard or send off to follow up on, with self-improving memory across all your tools and sessions, and full visibility across chats, files, browsers, terminals, and review panes.
team
Adi and Sven both studied EECS at UC Berkeley. Adi worked in applied ML, at Scale AI and previously built an IDE company. Sven was an ML engineer on production systems and chaired Norway's largest student AI org. Serial hackathon winners, they've built and lived together across four cities and dropped out to build the IDE they always wanted.
The goal is an IDE that runs the development loop end to end, not one that waits for instructions.
