In-product AI copilot & for any app

Cedar is an AI copilot for any app. Imagine the founders themselves being behind every user’s screen: actively converting them, answering product questions, and upselling. Jesse worked at Intuit, writing software for TurboTax designed for customers of all tech literacy levels. Isabelle worked at Figma and Notion, learning about the struggles of getting users to effectively use powerful yet complex products as well as GTM strategies to reach them. At every step of the conversion funnel, users and companies struggle with knowledge gaps. Users not knowing how a product helps them reduces conversion, activation and retention. Companies not knowing what users want misleads messaging, product, and re-engaging churned leads. AI can do more than just replace a single job or industry. With Cedar at the center, we reimagine growth and customer support entirely, provide qualitative analytics of the user’s story and using them to improve user’s experiences live. As we enter the age of AI agents, they too will need an understanding of what software does and how to execute it. We plan to be the front door for all of them.

Cedar 🌲 In-product AI copilot & PMF analytics for any app
See original launch post ›

Hi everyone! It’s Jesse & Isabelle from Cedar :)

How do we productise conversion optimisation?

In business terms, we do two things:

  1. We let you understand your user’s stories at scale. What do they want from your solution? What are they specifically trying to do on your software? Who are they?

    1. We do this by pulling your existing analytics and adding a thin layer of our own. You can re-target churned users when a relevant feature comes out, inform product roadmaps, and most importantly use it to find PMF.

  2. We use those analytics to increase conversion & retention, from pre-sale to activation/onboarding and beyond.

    1. Create individualised sales materials and activation flows to bring more users to their magic moment.

    2. Instead of not knowing how to do X and being blocked until customer support replies (or worse, churning), Cedar instantly responds.

Think of a general-use product like Notion. Imagine if every user saw a landing page that explains exactly how Notion helps them reach their goals. When they sign up, an activation flow walks them through solving a relevant problem they face every day. Then, as they use the app, an AI copilot makes them a power user, without the need to leave the app.

Our story

In more personal terms, we find it deeply wrong that people make awesome, valuable software that doesn’t reach people simply because of things like UI/UX or messaging. We turn every user into a power user - with the retention and promoter scores that come with it.

While AI is scaling engineering teams, we’re going to be the growth and customer success team in one product, with one centralized source of user knowledge.

Jesse worked at Intuit, learning the science and fun of making boring software (don’t tell TurboTax) that converts and serves customers of all tech literacy levels.

Isabelle worked at Figma and Notion, learning the struggles of getting users to effectively use powerful yet complex products and the GTM strategies to reach them.

Ask:

If you’re interested, or know any companies interested in:

  • Activation Conversion: Increasing % of users who get relevant value from your product at least once.
  • User Intent Analytics: Understanding what are your users trying to do, when and why they churn to intervene at the right moment, and re-engaging users based on criteria (e.g target users who churned due to missing features once implemented)
  • Flattening learning curves: Value is useless if your customer doesn’t know how to effectively use your product to get it (both pre and post-sale).
