Gridware

Protecting the grid today, preparing the grid for tomorrow

Gridware exists to enhance and protect the mother of all networks: the electrical grid. The grid touches everyone and makes our modern economy possible. But it’s also fragile. When the grid is compromised, everything grinds to a halt, and the consequences can be dire: wildfires burn, land is destroyed, property is damaged, progress stops, and lives are lost. Our team builds smart sensors that help utility companies to immediately detect, find, and fix outages and take steps to prevent new outages, and other related disasters, from happening at all. The need for power will only increase. We protect the grid of today while we build the grid of tomorrow. Gridware is privately held and backed by the best climate-tech and Silicon Valley investors. We are headquartered in the Bay Area in northern California.

Hear from the founders

What is the core problem you are solving? Why is this a big problem? What made you decide to work on it?

Gridware is solving the critical problem of detecting faults in the electrical grid, particularly in remote areas where infrastructure is aging and climate risks are increasing. Faults like downed power lines and equipment failures can lead to devastating consequences, including wildfires, outages, and costly repairs. Traditional monitoring systems are slow, inaccurate, and expensive to maintain, which is why we developed advanced sensors to detect and mitigate these issues in real-time. We decided to work on this because the grid is the backbone of modern society, and improving its safety and reliability is essential for meeting growing energy demands and combating the increasing threat of extreme weather.

What is your long-term vision? If you truly succeed, what will be different about the world?

Gridware’s long-term vision is to create a world where the electrical grid is resilient and adaptable to the demands of the future. By providing real-time fault detection and predictive insights, we aim to prevent outages, reduce wildfire risks, and enhance grid reliability. If we succeed, communities will experience fewer disruptions, safer environments, and a grid that can sustainably support the increasing demands of electrification and renewable energy integration. Our success means a future where the grid not only powers progress but also protects lives and infrastructure.
