Matt Hardy, Founder

Matt is a co-founder of Roundtable, a company using behavioral metrics for invisible fraud prevention. Before Roundtable, Matt was a PhD student at Princeton University, where he used machine learning and behavioral and experiments to study how people make decisions. Before his PhD, Matt majored in both statistics and economics at the University of Toronto, and worked in data science and econometrics.

Roundtable - Survey fraud and bot detection API
See original launch post ›

Tl;dr - Roundtable automates fraud detection and cleans survey data. We have developed an API that integrates with your preferred survey software of choice and analyzes response patterns to determine whether the participant is a bot.

✖️ The Problem: Online survey data is messy and time-consuming to clean. Anne is a project manager running 10,000 survey participants a month. She spends her weekends cleaning the data, so she can generate insights for her clients on the weekdays. After using Roundtable, she never has to come in during the weekend.

🍎 The Solution: Anne worked with her survey developer to integrate Roundtable’s API into her Qualtrics surveys. For every submission, Roundtable’s API flags fraudulent behavior and gives her a recommendation on whether to exclude the submission or not.

We designed Roundtable with three qualities:

  • 🏎️ High-Performance: When it comes to data quality, it only makes sense to go with the best. You want to be able to trust your data. We are Princeton PhDs who spent graduate school studying psychology and artificial intelligence as well as cleaning tons of survey data from our experiments. We firsthand know the pain of quality control. We want there to be a solution, but we know it must be of the highest quality. We made sure we developed the industry-leading tool before we launched.
  • ⚡ Speed: We’re saving valuable researcher time by doing the ugly parts. But, this means we have to be fast. Our API returns results in seconds so you can have the most comprehensive data when evaluating survey participants.
  • 🤖 Developer-Friendly: Onboarding is a hassle. It doesn’t make sense to spend three months onboarding a fraud prevention tool just to see if it works. Our documentation (docs.roundtable.ai) lets you get set up with our API in less than 15 minutes so you can run a pilot today!

🧑‍🔬 What’s Under the Hood?

We track user typing and answering behavior to open-ended survey responses. By looking at these behavioral patterns, we can determine who is a human and who is not. This form of cybersecurity is a never-ending game, and we will evolve as survey fraud evolves.

🧡 Our Ask

If you know anyone who runs surveys on Forsta (Decipher), Qualtrics, or Alchemer, please tell them to contact us at mayank@roundtable.ai!
