The problem
Big companies need receipts for everything they buy (every SaaS bill, every hotel folio, every Uber, every coffee). Because:
- The IRS requires receipts for every transaction over $75.
- They need the itemized details to enforce their expense policies.
- In Europe, companies can reclaim 20% of their spend (VAT)... but only if they have receipts.
But despite this need, no system exists to aggregate this data. Finance teams rely on employees to photograph paper receipts, or forward emailed receipts to their expense management / AP systems. This creates a bunch of employee busywork, and compliance is still far below 100%.
Great tools like Brex streamline every other part of expense management, but not receipts.
